What Does Treatment Involve?

Your first appointment begins with a detailed consultation, lasting around 30–60 minutes, to gain a full understanding of your health and identify the root cause of your symptoms. We’ll discuss your current concerns, medical history, lifestyle, diet, sleep, and overall wellbeing. We may also check your pulse and examine your tongue, as these provide valuable insights in traditional acupuncture.

Following the consultation, you’ll receive your first treatment. Fine needles are placed at carefully selected acupuncture points, which may be on different areas of the body than where your symptoms are felt—for example, foot or hand points may be used to help relieve headaches. Each treatment is tailored to your individual needs, and the acupuncture points used may change as your condition improves. For your comfort, we recommend wearing loose-fitting clothing, as some points on the arms, legs, or torso may need to be accessed.

Your treatment may include additional techniques such as moxibustion (moxa), electro-acupuncture, or gentle massage, depending on your individual needs. For children or those who are uncomfortable with needles, alternative methods can be used. All acupuncture needles are sterile, single-use, and safely disposed of after each treatment. Please allow up to 90 minutes for your first appointment and around 45 minutes for follow-up sessions, which include a brief consultation, treatment, and relaxation time.
